Long Version: My dog is a little gremlin (I say this with love) and chewed up some clothes out of my laundry (Thursday night or Friday morning - I found the chewed up clothes). He got very sick on Saturday morning and I immediately took him to the local vet. They checked him out (x-rays to see what was inside) and sent him home saying they were sure what was inside would pass on its own; but he got worse as the night progressed and refused to eat anything. Sunday he got even sicker: vomitting constantly, refusing food, lethargic, unable to use the restroom... but the vet was closed and I was only able to text/call with the on-call vet who told me to wait until Monday when they were open. Monday morning I took him immediately when they opened and they hospitalized him with an IV and kept an eye on him. Monday night they were able to assist him passing some of the fabric and told me to pick him up Tuesday. This whole time, he had been refusing food and only on IV fluids, so he's been basically starved since Saturday !! Tuesday, they said they got him to eat "a little" but couldn't tell me how much or when... I bring him home. He was a little better but still not acting right and still refusing to eat. At this point he starts refusing water too but I wasn't sure if he was just tired from being at the vet.

All of this cost about $1200 so far for the multiple tests, IV, overnight stay and vet examining him.

Today (Wednesday), he refuses food and water in the morning. Won't get out of his kennel. I try to call my vet but they are closed today for staff training. No on-call vet and nobody available to talk to about my concerns. I'm able to get off work and I take my dog to the next town over to the nearest animal hospital. They do some initial testing (x-rays, ultrasound, feeling on his belly, bloodwork to check for infection) and tell me the ultrasound looks like there's still stuff inside his stomach and intestines. Vet advises surgery at this point because waiting longer could mean his organs might be damaged or increased risk of infection.

This animal hospital requires full payment up-front and asked for $4500.

I don't like talking about money, but I'm a single-income family with two kids. I maxed out everything I had and drained my entire savings to pay the fee. Things are going to be very tough for awhile financially and if the vet needs any additional procedures for Koda I'm not sure where I'm going to get the funds at this point. If anyone is able to spare a little, I am truly grateful. I do have a YCH up for sale for anyone interested as well.
